The city centre
Ancona's city centre is enclosed in city walls dating back to the 19th century, and were the last to be built in the county seat. The perimeter of the Renaissance walls and the three main avenues divide the city centre in four districts: rione S.Pietro, rione di Capodimonte, rione Cardeto and rione Santo Stefano. The borders of all four districts touch in the central square: Piazza Roma.

The Cathedral
The San Ciriaco Cathedral was built on the remains of an ancient Hellenistic temple dedicated to Euplea (the Venus protector of safe navigation) and is Ancona's emblem and surely one of the Marche region's most interesting medieval churches.

The "Passetto"
Ancona's WWI Memorial, designed by local architect Guido Cirilli, rises at the end of the "Viale della Vittoria" and is linked to the underlying Passetto beach by a wide staircase.

Ancient Port
The pedestrial area of the Ancient port starts from the "Porta S.Primiano". The red signal on the road surface serves as travel direction: the visitor is invited to follow the path marked by important historical milestones, from the ancient walls to the ruins of the roman port, from Traiano to Clementino's Arch, up until the base of the "Lanterna".

Portonovo
Portonovo is Ancona's seaside centre and is only a few car minutes away from the city. Crystal clear water, a graveled and rocky beach with calcareous pebbles, which are considered a peculiarity of this area. The presence of woods near the beach, combined with the majestic presence of the Conero, make this place attractive for tourists and locals.
